Let’s Talk is a group of therapists, social workers, scientists, and designers who create multimedia resources that harness compassionate social media usage to shed new light on the individual, neurological, and cultural experiences and effects of trauma. Our content is openly accessible and free. Forever.
Let’s Talk Professional is a series of resources that are available for purchase for therapists, social workers, and other mental health professionals for their use in treating and talking about trauma with their clients. These materials are designed to be used in individual and group therapy, and can be used in workshops.
At the moment, Let’s Talk is still in progress. We are working to release our first instagram-native infographic in August 2019. Let’s Talk has been selected for development in partnership with the 2019-2021 Impact Entrepreneurship Fellowship at Parsons.
Trauma is defined as anything resulting from an event, series of events, or set of circumstances experienced by an individual as physically or emotionally harmful or life-threatening with lasting adverse effects on the individual’s functioning and mental, physical, social, emotional, or spiritual well-being.
As it currently stands, trauma is experienced by many, but talked about by few. Due to a variety of factors, trauma and its effects are poorly understood outside of the mental health professional community. We aim to spread a more nuanced understanding of trauma so that we as a society can talk about it, and tackle healing head on.
